As a nutritionist, it’s no surprise that breakfast is high on my list of priorities. It’s the last step in my non-negotiable morning routine and something that I look forward to every single day. But for many, breakfast is just another thing on the ‘to-do’ list. I want to change that, which is why I’ve created a series of easy, delicious and nutritionally balanced recipes. With a plenty of nourishing wholefoods, they’ll help balance blood sugar levels, which keeps your energy levels stable throughout the day, aids concentration and prevents you from reaching for sugary snacks.
My go-to breakfast recipes:
1. Power protein smoothie
This is one of my favourite on-the-go snacks and breakfast options. Not only is it nutritionally balanced, but it’s so tasty that I can never get enough. If you’re extra pressed for time, chop and prepare the ingredients the night before. In the morning, simply add everything to your blender and blitz. Simple, easy and delicious. Find the recipe here.
2. JSHealth protein pancakes
Pancakes have always been one of my favourite morning indulgences, but more often than not, they’re nutritionally lacking. That’s why I created this clean and lean version that contains plenty of protein and fibre. Simply add some fresh fruits and drizzle of honey to finish. Find the recipe here.
3. Berry, banana and almond chia pudding
This recipe is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids and fibre, which keep you fuller for longer. Better yet, it’s naturally flavoured with banana, berries, cinnamon and almonds. You can prepare it the night before in individual glass jars and take it with you in the morning. Find the recipe here.
4. Bircher muesli
Bircher muesli is one of those dishes that sounds healthy but can be loaded with sugar. That’s why I created this option that’s balanced, tasty and lasts in your fridge for up to a week. Simply combine all of the ingredients and leave it in the fridge overnight. Find the recipe here.
